Job Title: Trailer Technician (Full-Time)
Job description
Berkshire County Trailers, Towing and Leisure are looking for an experienced and initiative-taking person with high standards to join our team. Self-employed also considered.
We are main dealers for PRG, Tickners, Erde, Cheval and Debon trailers. In addition, we have dealerships for Logic Equipment, Thule and Tentbox. This is a varied and interesting role and a fantastic opportunity.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated technician to join our team on a full-time basis. As a crucial member of our team, you will be responsible for providing on-site and off-site servicing, diagnostics, repair, and maintenance services to our valued customers in and around Berkshire. Flexibility in working hours is available to accommodate your circumstances.
Responsibilities:
- Service, maintain and repair a variety of trailers up to 3500kg from top manufactures such as Brian James, Ifor Williams, Nugent, Equitrek, Debon and Cheval Liberte. Adhering to manufacturers’ specifications to ensure machine reliability and safety.
- Conduct pre-delivery inspections of new trailers, ensuring proper assembly and functionality.
- Demonstrate a keen eye for detail, identifying and reporting machine defects, and effectively promoting additional services offered by the company.
- Diagnose and rectify electrical, hydraulic and other faults efficiently to initiate and complete repairs promptly.
- Generate detailed reports of completed work, including supporting photographs and documentation of labour times.
- Utilise your background in vehicle maintenance, groundcare, agriculture, construction, trailers, assembly, or commercial vehicle service to deliver high-quality service.
- Demonstrate flexibility, hands-on approach, and IT literacy to effectively carry out job responsibilities.
- To service, repair and maintain the fleet of hire trailers.
- To maintain and update full records of each hire trailer.
- To assemble and modify trailers as required.
- Experience with using hand tools or similar workshop tools.
- To ensure that the workshop and mobile service vehicle is always clean and tidy.
- Keep tools/equipment in good working order and to report any issues to management.
- Ad hoc tasks as required by management.
- To adhere to Company Policies and good working practice including wearing personal protective equipment as required.
Skills/Experience Required:
- 3 years trailer, horsebox , groundcare, vehicle or UTV/ATV servicing experience.
- Full UK driving licence .
- Understand, follow and apply verbal and written instructions.
- Attention to detail and excellent customer service.
- Recognised maintenance qualification such as IMI/trailer maintenance or groundcare qualification.
- Able to work alone and on your own initiative.
- Additional experience in welding and vehicle mechanics of larger vehicles would be of an advantage, as would a forklift licence but not essential.
- Flexibility is required during the busy periods.
- The applicant must be able to work under pressure and act on their own initiative.
- Drivers licence essential as we operate a mobile servicing & repair vehicle
- Excellent timekeeping and work ethic.
- Happy to work outside in all types of weather.

- Working Pattern: 07:30am – 17:00pm Monday – Friday with 1-hour lunch break. Every other Saturday 08:30am – 12:30pm
- 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays
- Salary will be discussed individually and dependent on experience
Supplemental Pay: Performance bonus paid monthly in arrears based on KPIs
Education: GCSE or equivalent (required)
Experience: Trailer, horsebox, groundcare, vehicle, UTV/ATV: 3 years (required)
Licence/Certification: Full UK Driving Licence (required)
